The Cux 87 "KrabbenKutter" {part 9}

     The waterways were next on my list of "catch-up" tasks.  I had laid them onto the deck and now was the time to fill in the gaps and paint them, in order to install the top rails.  these, I found, made masking over the deck  easier in order to paint the hull.  the scuppers also needed to be repaired and prepped for painting as well.....I figured that I would do them at the same time.  after the imperfections were filled, they were sanded and readied for painting.

     Of course, the tiny hairs of the wood stuck out all over.  also, painting on unprimed wood, the paint sucked into the wood like there was no tomorrow!  I waited for the paint to throughly dry and then the waterways and bulwarks were lightly sanded to remove them.  it got a second coat when it was ready and after this was dry, I installed the top rails.  again, I do apologize for the pictures......I'm still rather new to this camera.....I will master it yet!

  I found that the hull and rails did not match up, a bit uneven in a couple areas.......more the fault of the builder, rather than the kit.  I have an idea on how to remedy this, once this is done and the rails are sanded and joints are smooth, I can start on the big enchilada.....the deck planking.  here is where the structure placements will be fitted in their proper places.   until then.....AHOY!!!
